Maha Amer Qualifies for 2024 Paris Olympics in Three-Meter Dive
The two-time All-American scored a personal best 307.15 at the African Continental Championships.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida’s diver Maha Amer qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after scoring a personal best 307.15 on the three-meter to be crowned champion at the African Continental Championships on Tuesday in Durbin, South Africa.
“I am beyond proud of Maha,” UF Diving Coach Bryan Gillooly said. “Her work ethic, her dedication and her perseverance have all lead her to this moment. After missing out on Tokyo in 2020 a lot of athletes would have given up but we both knew she had more to accomplish. Winning this meet and qualifying for the Olympics with a personal best score proves that. Now we will start training for the World Championships in Doha and then Paris after that. She will continue to add accolades to an already stellar career. I am grateful to be on this journey with her.”
The 2022 SEC Female Co-Diver of the Year represented Egypt in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 3-meter springboard competition where she finished No. 28.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games take place from July 26 to August 11. Florida’s Head Coach Anthony Nesty will serve as the U.S men’s swim team head coach.
