UF S&D: Florida Women Welcome Two Additions to 2024-25 Roster

Anita Bottazzo and Nicole Maier will join the women’s program this fall.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s team welcome graduate transfer Nicole Maier and incoming freshman Anita Bottazzo to their 2024-25 roster.

Coming to Florida as a graduate transfer from Miami of Ohio, Maier is a two-time All-American Honorable-Mention in the 400-yard IM. She was named Mid-American Conference’s (MAC) 2024 Outstanding Senior, MAC’s 2023 Co-Swimmer of the Year and MAC’s 2021 Freshman Swimmer of the Year. She garnered four All-MAC First Team honors and Academic All-MAC honors. During her time as a Redhawk, she set seven individual records as well as five individual MAC Conference records. A native from Bottrop, Germany, Maier will compete in the 4×200 free relay for her homeland in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Incoming freshman Anita Bottazzo will join the Gators in the fall from Imola, Italy. Primarily competing in breastroke, butterfly and Individual medley events, Bottazzo was a 2023 World Championship Finalist in the 50-meter breast and was a bronze medalist in the 100-meter breast at the U23 European Championships. Additionally, she was a member of Italy’s 4×50 meter relay team who set a new Italian record while earning silver at the 2023 European Short Course Championships. Their time of 1:43.97 shattered Italy’s previous standard of 1:44.46 set in 2021. Most recently, Bottazzo placed 13th at the World Aquatics Championships in the 50 Breast back in February.
