AUBURN, Ala. – The No.4/3 men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned a spot on the podium in all seven finals events Thursday night inside the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. The women earned first in the 400Y IM, 100Y fly and the 200Y free to claim a finals sweep and join the men, who sit with 893 points in first place with 765.5 points.
Emma Weyant collected her second individual title of the week and defended her SEC Championship 400 IM title after cruising to a 4:01.20. Teammate, Zoe Dixon followed close behind in 4:03.33 to secure silver. Weyant’s 4:01.20 becomes the second-fastest time in program history, while Dixon’s 4:03.33 is fourth. Anna Auld and Julia Podkoscielny also made the Championship Final as Auld would finish fourth with 4:09.39, while Podkoscielny went 4:17.78 for seventh.
On the men’s side, Giovanni Linscheer swam with a vengeance having finished fourth at last year’s SEC Championship. The sophomore claimed bronze after touching the wall in 3:39.61 to drop over two seconds off his seed time. Gator teammate Mason Laur followed in only 0.04 seconds, clocking a 3:39.65 for fourth.
Olivia Peoples’ 50.47 in the 100-fly final gave her the top spot on the podium and the top spot in program history, setting a new school record.
After setting the SEC Meet and Pool record in the morning preliminary heat with 43.89, Joshua Liendo swept the 100 fly event and defended his title after swimming a 43.98. Scotty Buff kept up with his fellow teammate to record a personal-best time of 44.38 for silver.
Isabel Ivey tallied her first SEC title after posting a 1:41.85 in the 200 free to top her 1:43.03 time which is the second-fastest program time with 1:43.03. Micayla Cronk’s 1:43.83 is good for sixth best in the top-10 times list and fifth place overall in the event.
Macguire McDuff closed out the final swimming events of the night with his first SEC Championship individual podium finish. McDuff posted the second-best time in program history after going 1:30.64 in the 200 free.

Hear from the Winning Gators
Emma Weyant, Florida, Women’s 400 Individual Medley
“We had four Gators in the A and three in the B and it was really just like a 400 IM practice every day. My teammates really pushed me through that one.”
Olivia Peoples, Florida, Women’s 100 Butterfly
“I feel really blessed to win tonight. I’m really fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of girls. Iron sharpens iron and I know they’ve helped me get so much better this season. I can only hope that I’ve been able to sharpen my teammates as well.“
Josh Liendo, Florida, Men’s 100 Butterfly
“I feel pretty good. I feel even better that we got Scotty (Buff) in there in second place. I’m super happy for him and I’m excited to continue racing with him at NCAAs.”
Isabel Ivey, Florida, Women’s 200 Freestyle
“Going into that race, I was just focused on my own race. There were a lot of great girls in that heat and I was just trying to what I know how to do and the best I could do it. It was great to add to the Gator medal count and looking forward to the rest of the meet.”
Macguire McDuff, Florida, Men’s 200 Freestyle
“I’m feeling good and really happy with the result. Best time and I won and I’ve been looking forward to it all year.”
