Former Gator clocked a 1:50.23.4 to win gold at Pan American Championships in Santiago, Chile.

GAINSEVILLE, Fla. – Brennan Gravley claimed gold in the men’s 10k and give Team USA a sweep in the open water competition on Sunday afternoon in Santiago, Chile.

The former Gator swam a 1:50.23.4 to finish ahead of Argentina’s Franco Cassini, who finished just two tenths of a second behind in 1:50.23.6.

“I was in the front for a long time, which I don’t usually do too much. It was peaceful out there and the conditions were really good,” Brennan Gravley said. “All the guys were really competitive at the end and I enjoyed it. I am not super confident in my finishing speed, so I just tried to keep my head down and keep my head on the finish.”

Top athletes from North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean’s will come together in Santiago, Chile, from 20 October–5 November for the Pan American Games 2023. More than 100 direct quota spots for qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympics will be available, with swimming being one.
