UF S&D: Anton Svirskyi, Nina Kucheran Named to SEC Swimming & Diving Community Service Teams

Svirskyi and Kucheran are two of 20 conference members to earn honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Anton Svirskyi and Nina Kucheran were named to the 2023 SEC Swimming and Diving Community Service Teams, the conference announced Tuesday morning. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports, highlighting athletes from each school wo give back to their community in superior service efforts.

Svirskyi has accumulated over 800 hours of service, working with the City of Gainesville, Alachua County Public Schools, and the Ukraine Medical Association. From Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine, Svirskyi assited in disaster relief and recover efforts for his home country. On top of that, the All-American diver worked with the Teen Midnight Basketball Program and the Alachua County Public Schools Teacher Welcome Back.

Kucheran, a graduate student from Sudbury, Canada, worked as a community greeter for Health Sciences North. She is also an advocate for mental health, volunteering for mental health training and events. Kucheran has served as an exercise physiology volunteer, a head campus captain, and a swimming educator at a local Gainesville elementary school, making a lasting impact in her first season as a Gator.

The No. 5/6 Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are competing in the SEC Championships, starting today, Feb. 14 to Feb. 18.
