This is senior Emily Wilkie’s first appearance on the SEC Community Service Team.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Emily Wilkie of the Florida softball team was announced to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team early Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Wilkie has dedicated a great amount of her personal time in volunteering within the community over her career. She has dedicated 56 hours during her time as a Gator to the Gainesville area community and has made multiple frequent visits Shands Hospital to visit children experiencing hardships. Wilkie attended the Gators Lunch Buddies Program, participated in the Gator Tracks initiative that provides shoes to students in Alachua County schools and helped lead the team’s canned food drive.
In addition, she attended the Shands Pediatric Patient Party where students helped children make their own jewelry as well as delivered jewelry to patients that were not able to attend the party. Wilkie helped serve dinner at the St. Francis House, who helps provide life changing services to women and families with children experiencing homelessness and contributed along with her teammates to the Thanksgiving meal preparing and packing event held at Trinity United Methodist Church for families in need of a Thanksgiving meal.
She currently serves on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as the secretary this year. Wilkie is majoring in Health Education & Behavior and plans to apply to the School of Physician Assistant Studies in the UF College of Medicine. Academically, she is a three-time member of the Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.
