GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3/2 Florida softball team dropped its series opener to No. 12/13 Arkansas on Friday evening, falling 4-1 to the Razorbacks at Katie Pressly Seashole Stadium.
Freshman Taylor Shumaker plated Florida’s only run of the game off a solo home run in the sixth inning, her 14th of the year and second in Southeastern Conference play.
She is now tied for third-most home runs by a freshman with Lauren Haegar (2012) and moved into a tie for ninth-most runs scored (49).
Arkansas plated three of its four runs on a three-run home run in the first inning, before adding an insurance run off an RBI single in the top of the seventh.
Freshman Katelynn Oxley (5-4) took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs, five hits and four walks, while striking out a pair of Razorbacks.
With a hit and a walk in the game, senior Kendra Falby has now reached base in all 40 games this season and in 42 straight games going back to the 2024 season.
