UF SB: No. 6/8 Florida Outlasts No. 19 Ole Miss

Korbe Otis drove in a team-best four runs in the win, while Mia Williams hit a pair of home runs.

OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 6/8 Florida softball team edged out No. 19 Ole Miss in an offensive showdown on Friday evening, downing the Rebels, 8-7, to take game one of the Southeastern Conference weekend series.

Korbe Otis continued her hot streak at the plate, driving in game-best four runs, while Mia Williams tallied her first career multi-home run performance with a pair of solo shots.

Kendra Falby, who is batting a team-best .449 in conference play, went 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and one of the Gators’ two stolen bases.

In the circle, Keagan Rothrock (10-2) earned her second SEC win of the season, while Katelynn Oxley recorded her third save, pitching three shutout innings of relief.

NOTABLES:

  *   For the second time this season and fifth time in her career, Kendra Falby recorded four hits in a game
     *   Falby also went 4-for-4 against Iowa State on Feb. 23
     *   She now has 96 multi-hit games in her career
  *   Falby has recorded both of Florida’s triples in SEC play this season
     *   The senior has 11 career triples, sixth-most in program history
  *   Falby swiped her 33rd stolen bag of the season in the top of the first inning and is 33-for-35 this season in steal attempts
     *   Now with 115 stolen bases in her career, she is just five stolen bases shy of setting a new Florida program record
     *   Skylar Wallace currently holds the Florida career record of 119 stolen bases
  *   Mia Williams hit two solo home runs, the first multi-home run performance of her career
     *   Of her team-best 15 home runs this season, thirteen have been solo home runs
     *   She has hit 21 home runs in her career and 15 have been solo shots
  *   Williams went 3-for-4 at the plate, matching her career-best of three hits, and recorded her second three-hit game of the season and career
     *   She has 16 multi-hit games in her career, including 14 this season alone
  *   Korbe Otis has recorded three multi-RBI games in the last four games, including a game-best four RBI against the Rebels
     *   She also matched her season-best of three hits
     *   Otis has 10 multi-RBI outings this season and 23 in her two seasons in Gainesville
  *   Keagan Rothrock now holds a 12-3 career record in SEC play
     *   Her career record overall is 43-11
  *   Two of Katelynn Oxley’s three saves have come in SEC play, including at Auburn on March 30
  *   Florida’s defense turned its 18th double play of the season to end the bottom of the first
