The Gators and the Tigers will play in their series finale Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 9 Florida softball team fell, 5-2, in game two of the series against No. 14 Missouri on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
The Gators (34-9, 9-5 SEC) managed five hits in the contest, while the Tigers (33-10, 7-7 SEC) strung together 10 hits. Jocelyn Erickson hit her ninth home run and 10th double of the season after going 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk.
Florida struck first for the second consecutive game of the series and took a 2-0 lead over Missouri. Korbe Otis continued her hot-streak at the plate as she fought off a 2-2 pitch from MU starting pitcher Cierra Harrison (12-2) and deposited it into right field for a two-out single. Jocelyn Erickson quickly scored Otis in the very next at-bat as she sent the first pitch over the center field wall for a two-run home run.
Missouri fought back in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead 4-2. The Tigers led the frame with a single and a four-pitch walk before a bunt that was popped up back to the circle and a waiting Ava Brown (14-3) for the first out. However, MU strung together back-to-back run scoring doubles and a single to score all four runs in the frame.
The Tigers tacked on a run to push the lead out to 5-2 thanks to a leadoff solo home run to center field. Mackenzie Wooten came in relief of Brown in the circle and shut down any further rally in the frame.
Wooten finished with two and a third scoreless innings of work in the circle, allowing only one hit, and made a fantastic play on a line drive to start the sixth inning. Olivia Miller entered in the bottom of the sixth with one out and finished out the game with one and two thirds innings pitched with no runs scored.
The series finale between these two teams is set for Sunday, April 14, at 3 p.m. ET and will stream on SEC Network+.
