Florida solo game against Stetson is set to stream on SEC Network+ at 6 p.m. ET.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The 10th-ranked Florida softball team continues play this Wednesday with a solo midweek game against Stetson at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. ET and will stream on SEC Network+.
The Gators (21-4, 2-1 SEC) enter the midweek clash after the program took its fourth-consecutive series against Alabama in Tuscaloosa this past weekend, which included only the program’s fourth ever run-rule victory over the Crimson Tide. Ava Brown’s (9-1) performance at the plate and in the circle helped secure the milestone, 11-2 (5 inning), victory during game two of the series.
Brown’s performance that Sunday afternoon also helped her earn her first D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week award and her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor. The Montgomery, Texas native only allowed three-hits, two bunt singles and an infield single to third, and held UA to just two runs. Offensively, Brown went 4-for-8 with a home run four runs batted in. Brown notched her third and fourth multi-RBI games in the Gators’ two wins that clinched the series.
The Gators have earned an SEC Freshman of the Week honor every week so far this season.
As a whole, UF’s offense is still as potent as ever as Jocelyn Erickson (.471 BA), Skylar Wallace (.456 BA), Kendra Falby (.453 BA) and Korbe Otis (.419 BA) are all hitting over .400 on the season, while the program as a whole is hitting .373 on the year.
In the circle, fellow freshman Keagan Rothrock (9-3, 1 SV) sports a 0.74 ERA and went 1-1 in the circle against Alabama. The Whiteland, Ind., native opened the series with a complete-game shutout, the program’s nationally leading 15th of the year, and secured a spot in history as she became the first freshman in program history to achieve that feat against the Crimson Tide.
Overall as a staff, the Gators have a 1.05 ERA and have held opposing batters to just a .138 average at the plate.
Stetson (9-15) enters tomorrow’s game after it secured the series, 2-1, over Robert Morris this past weekend. Its matchup with UF will be the program’s fifth ranked opponent of the season as they have previously faced Washington, Oklahoma State and Tennessee twice.
At the plate they are led by Madelyn Synoracki (.354 BA) and Kami Epply (.314) as the duo is hitting over the .300-mark and lead the team as the top two RBI producers in the lineup. Overall, their offense is hitting .232 on the year with 25 extra-base hits and 64 walks.
In the circle Hannah Marien (3-8) and Lauren Hobbs (5-4) own a majority of the innings as Marien leads the team with 74.1 innings pitched and Hobbs is close behind with 64.1 innings.
