Right-handed pitcher Kara Hammock will join the Florida pitching staff for her senior season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida softball head coach Tim Walton announced the addition of transfer pitcher Kara Hammock to the program Thursday. Hammock will have one year of eligibility remaining and will compete during the 2025 season.
“We’re really excited to add Kara Hammock and her family to our program.” Walton said. “Kara brings in a lot of experience and her style of pitching is something we need in our program to get back to the Women’s College World Series and compete for a national championship.”
Hammock, a 6-foot-2-inch right-hander, holds a career 1.80 ERA over 372.2 innings pitched in addition to a .231 opposing batting average. She has a career record of 39-19 with 33 complete-games, 10 shutouts, four saves and 267 strikeouts compared to just 91 walks.
The Mechanicsville, Va., native was the first UNC Wilmington player in program history to be named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year and also earned All-CAA Second Team and CAA All-Tournament Team honors in 2022. She followed up with All-CAA First Team honors in 2023 and was an All-CAA Second Team selection this past season.
During her junior campaign, Hammock secured three complete-game victories in the CAA Tournament on the way to earning a spot on the CAA All-Tournament Team and was named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She limited opposing offenses in the tournament to just a pair of earned runs over 25 innings to claim the CAA Tournament Championship and send UNCW to the NCAA Tournament.
