Gators Take Over the Bayou, Defeat LSU 5-2
Florida earns its sixth conference win after defeating the Tigers in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Florida men’s tennis team extended their win streak to four after defeating LSU on the road. UF claimed a 5-2 victory against the Tigers using the doubles point and battling in singles to achieve the feat.
In doubles action, Jeremy Jin<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/jeremy-jin/16118> and Adhithya Ganesan<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/adhithya-ganesan/16660> picked up their fourth win of the season, defeating Julien Penzlin and Enzo Kohlmann 6-1.
Kevin Edengren<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/kevin-edengren/16662> and Ben Weintraub<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/ben-weintraub/17051> clinched the doubles point on court three, topping Brock Anderson and Alessio Vasquez 6-4.
On the singles side, Edngren struck first for Florida taking a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Rudy Ceccon. Andrej Loncarevic responded for the Tigers as he defeated No. 113 Henry Jefferson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/henry-jefferson/16661> 6-3, 6-3 on court four.
LSU leveled the match at 2-2 after Tanapatt Nirundorn<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/tanapatt-nirundorn/16114> fell in extended sets to Kohlmann. Nirundorn took the first set 6-1, but could not maintain control falling 6-2 in the second. Nirundorn was defeated 6-1 in the final set.
No. 124 Ganesan gave UF the lead while manning court one. Ganesan also saw his match go into an extra set as he battled Vasquez. Ganesan fell 6-1 in the first set, but kept his composure and took the second set 6-3. Ganesan left little room for doubt in the third set, cruising to a 6-2 victory.
No. 65 Jin battled against Penzlin to secure the point for Florida. Jin dropped the first set 6-3, but logged a 6-3 victory in the second. Jin cruised to a 6-1 win in the third to win the match.
Both teams decided to play out the remaining match featuring JanMagnus Johnson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/janmagnus-johnson/17174> and Sasa Markovic. Johnson took the first set 7-6 (7-5), but fell 6-4 in the second. Johnson secured the fifth point blanking Markovic 6-0 in the third.
