Gators Put Up Strong Performances, Fall to Wake Forest on Day One
Florida will move on to play either Illinois or North Carolina in a consolation match on day 2 of ITA Kick-Off Weekend
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators Men’s Tennis dropped their first match of ITA’s Kick-Off Weekend to Wake Forest and are slated to face either Illinois or North Carolina on Sunday based on the result of their matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Adhithya Ganesan extended his streak of straight-sets singles victories to four, defeating Matthew Thompson by a score of 6-2, 6-4 on court three.
Florida Freshman and national No. 57 ranked Aidan Kim won the first set of his singles matchup with 7th-ranked Filippo Moroni, 6-3, and led in the third set before the match was cut short by Wake’s fourth point.
No. 75 Jeremy Jin battled to win the second set in his contest with 54th-ranked DK Suresh Ekambaram. The match was cut short before a third set began.
The Gators will play one more match in Chapel Hill on Sunday, January 28 at 11 AM. Their opponent will be the losing team of today’s match between Illinois and North Carolina.
