Florida travels to Columbia to battle the Gamecocks on Saturday evening
COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Gators travel to Columbia to compete in their final regular season match against No. 15 South Carolina on Saturday, April 12 at the Carolina Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. with doubles action and singles will follow immediately after.
Florida enters Saturday’s match with a 13-9 overall record and 9-2 in conference play. UF’s last outing was a 4-3 loss against Tennessee. The Gators secured the double point but the Volunteers had a successful comeback effort in singles after being down 3-0. The contest became leveled at 3-3 and the match came down to extended sets on court three featuring JanMagnus Johnson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/janmagnus-johnson/17174> and Alejandro Moreno. Moreno took the first set 6-4, but Johnson responded in the second taking the set 6-4. Despite his efforts, Johnson could not hold on in the third set falling 6-1.
The Gamecocks enters this weekend’s match-up with a 16-6 overall record and 10-3 in conference action. Tennessee’s last outing was a 4-0 win against Georgia. South Carolina sits at No. 15 in the ITA rankings and has four players ranked in singles, No. 27 Connor Thomson, No. 106 Sean Daryabeigi, No. 118 Jelani Sarr, and No. 123 Casey Hoole. In doubles, the Gamecocks are represented by two duos: No. 4 Lucas Andrade Da Silva and Thomson, and No. 39 Atakan Karahan and Jelani Sarr.
