Gators rewarded for impressive 12-match winning streak
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On a 12-match winning streak that includes victories over seven current top-15 programs, the Florida men’s tennis team was tabbed as the new No. 1 team in the Oracle/ITA Division I Rankings on Tuesday.
The Gators are 15-1 overall and 9-0 in the Southeastern Conference with three regular season matches left to play. Of note, UF has swept its last four opponents by a score of 7-0.
Florida has wins over No. 3 Tennessee, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 11 Georgia, No. 13 UCF and No. 15 Mississippi State. Its only loss came at No. 7 Texas, 4-3, in a delay-filled match in January.
