The regional will be contested on Monday, May 17 through Wednesday, May 19.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men’s golf team will travel to Cle Elum, Washington to compete in the 2021 Regional Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday in conjunction with the Golf Channel.
The NCAA Regional Championship was introduced in 1989 to determine which teams moved onto the NCAA Championship. There are six sites of regional play, with the low five teams and the low individual not from those teams at each site advancing to the NCAA Championships.
Florida has earned a bid to the NCAA Regional Championship 31 of 32 times, while also claiming five team championships and six individual championships. Andy Zhang is the most recent Gators golfer to clinch the individual medal, doing so in 2018 alongside Florida’s team title.
The Gators are coming off of a shorter-than-expected SEC Tournament run, narrowly missing the cut after tying for ninth place. Freshman Joe Pagdin and sophomore Ricky Castillo paced the way for Florida, turning in final cards that earned them T7 and T12 finishes, respectively.
Competition in Washington is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 17 and continue through Wednesday, May 19.
