The Gators tee off the season at the Fighting Irish Collegiate on Sept. 4 at the Warren Course.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s golf team announced its 2022-23 schedule on Wednesday, featuring a total of ten tournaments split evenly in the fall and spring.
Florida tees off the season at the Fighting Irish Collegiate from Sept. 4-5 at the Warren Course in South Bend, Ind., marking their tournament debut. The fall slate continues with three straights weeks of action at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational (Sept. 16-18), SEC Match Play (Sept. 25-27) and the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 3-4).
The Gators conclude the first half of the campaign back in Florida at the Isleworth Collegiate (Oct. 23-25). Last year Florida took fifth in the fall finale, which began a streak of eight consecutive top-5 finishes.
Following winter break, the spring portion of the schedule starts at the Sea Best Invitational at TPC Sawgrass from Jan. 30-31, a tournament the Gators have dominated – 1st place in 2021, 2nd in 2020, 3rd in 2019 and 1st in 2017. The tournament is also home to where Ricky Castillo captured his first career collegiate title.
UF returns home to host the 46th annual VyStar Credit Union Gators Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course from Feb. 11-12. The Gators aim to defend its title for the fourth straight year and 29th time overall. Last year, Fred Biondi finished 14-under at 196 to tie the tournament record while he claimed his first collegiate medalist honor.
Southern Highlands (Feb. 26-28) is the next test as it marks the third straight tournament the Gators appear in that they have won recently – 2019. A trip out west to the National Invitational Tournament (N.I.T) March 17-18 at Omni Tucson National and at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club April 1-2 finish the regular season.
The SEC Championship is scheduled for April 18-23 at St. Simons Island, Ga. at the Sea Island Golf Club. NCAA Regionals are slated for May 15-17 followed by the NCAA Championships May 26-31 in Scottsdale, Ariz. at Grayhawk Golf Club.
