UF MGOLF | Bell, Gators Lead into Final Round at Schenkel Invitational

Florida has three-shot lead and is 22-under while Parker Bell is 10-under and seeks his first collegiate win tomorrow.

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Florida men’s golf team and Parker Bell both lead into the final round of the Schenkel Invitational tomorrow.

The Gators shot its second consecutive round of 277 (-11) to sit 22-under through 36-holes and own a three-shot lead with Notre Dame (-19) in second followed by Middle Tennessee State (-18) on Saturday. The three schools are paired tomorrow and tee off at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Heights Country Club.

Bell, who will seek his first collegiate win, shot back-to-back rounds of 67 (-5) and has one stroke advantage. Across his 36-holes, he has made 22 pars, nine birdies and two eagles. He is averaging 3.75 (-10) on par5s this weekend and has either made eagle or birdie on the four par5s.

For the second straight day, six of the eight Gators competing carded under par rounds with the only non-counting round of +1, which came from Tyler Wilkes (T62) and also individually in John DuBois (T41)

Five Gators are in the top-21 with Matthew Kress tied for 6th at 6-under. He recorded his second consecutive round of 69 (-3) for his 14th under par round this season, just one back of team-leader (15) Ian Gilligan, who shot a 71 (-1) today. He is tied for 21st at 3-under with Jack Turner. Turner has gone low in both rounds with a 2-under 70 in his second set of 18.

Tied for 16th, Quentin Debove was one of four UF golfers to finish in the 60s. He had a 3-under 69. The fourth came from Luke Poulter (T62) with a 4-under 68. His performance marked a 12-shot improvement from his opening round yesterday.

Following the Schenkel Invitational, the regular season concludes at the Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla. from April 7-9.
