Richard earned OVC All-Newcomer Team honors as a freshman in 2021-22
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Will Richard has joined the Florida men’s basketball program, head coach Todd Golden announced on Wednesday.
A 6-foot-5 guard from Fairburn, Georgia, Richard comes to UF from Belmont, where he averaged 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds and earned Ohio Valley All-Newcomer Team honors as a freshman last season.
“We are excited to welcome Will into the Gator family,” Golden said. “He is a talented student-athlete, and his best basketball is in front of him. He has great basketball IQ and a great feel for the game. He exhibits many traits that lead us to believe he will be a great teammate, a great ambassador for the university, and someone that will fit seamlessly within our program.”

* Averaged 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a freshman at Belmont in 2021-22, helping the Bruins to a 25-8 overall record (15-3 Ohio Valley) and an NIT bid.
* Named to the Ohio Valley Conference’s 2021-22 All-Newcomer team.
* Scored in double figures in 23 of 33 games, including 12 games with 15+ points.
* Posted a personal-best 23 points at Samford and had 22 at Vanderbilt in the NIT.
* Had two double-doubles, posting 11 points and 14 rebounds vs. Drake and 14 points and 10 rebounds at Tennessee Tech.
* Member of Woodward Academy’s 2020 Georgia 4A state championship team as a high school junior, then earned GHSAA first-team All-State as a senior while averaging 24.0 points per game.
