GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men’s basketball will take on Cal in the opening round of the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off on Nov. 22, announced Thursday. The Beach Division consists of Florida and Cal in one matchup and Ohio State vs. Seton Hall in the other, with the championship and consolation games set for Nov. 24.
All contests will take place at Suncoast Credit Union Arena, the home of Florida SouthWestern State College. Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.
Florida and Cal have met twice in program history with the Golden Bears winning both prior games, once in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, (Dec. 27, 1986) and another in the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska (Nov. 25, 1988).
Mike White holds a 5-2 record vs. Cal head coach Mark Fox during Fox’s tenure at Georgia. That mark includes White’s first four wins against the Bulldogs as Florida’s coach and another while White led Louisiana Tech.
Florida’s home game against Milwaukee on Nov. 18 will be an on-campus game affiliated with the Fort Myers Tip-Off.
