UF LAX: No. 7 Gators Take Down No. 16 Colorado 9-7 in Big 12 Thriller

Susan Radebaugh made a career high 11 saves for the Gators in the win.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 7/5 Florida Lacrosse teams (9-2, 2-0 Big 12) extended their win streak to six straight and moved to 2-0 in the Big 12 with their 9-7 win against No. 16/15 Colorado (7-3, 1-1 Big 12) on Saturday afternoon.

The Gators were led by Gabbi Koury with four points (2 G/2 A) as Kaitlyn Davies (2 G), Clark Hamilton (2 G) and Caroline Hoskins (1 G/1 A) all registered two points. Sophomore goalkeeper Susan Radebaugh played a career high 60:00 minutes while also making a career high 12 saves.

The Buffaloes were led by Jaimey Hill, who led all scorers with three goals, as Rachel Kennedy scored two for Colorado.

How It Happened
FIRST QUARTER (Buffaloes 2, Gators 1)

  *   Colorado would open the scoring at 7:41 in the first quarter with a goal from Rachel Kennedy, before getting another from Jaimey Hill at 4:37 to take a 2-0 lead.
  *   Gabbi Koury would get the Gators on the board, scoring of a Frannie Hahn assist to cut the Colorado lead to 2-1.

SECOND QUARTER (Gators 3, Buffaloes 3)

  *   The Buffs would extend their lead back to two with a goal from Averi Gardner at 12:08 to make it 3-1
  *   Florida would tie the game before halftime, getting a goal from Clark Hamilton at 11:08 off a assist from Caroline Hoskins, and one from Gabbi Koury at 4:31, her second of the day.

THIRD QUARTER (Gators 5, Buffaloes 5)

  *   The third quarter would see the back-and-forth affair continue as a ground ball pickup from the defensive end and a clear from Alexa Stone would see her notch an assist on a Caroline Hoskins goal at 12:24 to give the Gators their first lead of the day at 12:24 at 4-3.
  *   Colorado would get a goal from Rachel Kennedy at 11:19 to tie it back up and it would be nearly ten minutes before another goal was scored, as Jaimey Hill notched her second of the day at 1:49 to give Colorado the lead back at 5-4.
  *   Kaitlyn Davies would respond for the Gators 63 seconds later, as she scored from a free position to tie the game at 5-5 going into the final 15 minutes.

FOURTH QUARTER (Gators 9, Buffaloes 7)

  *   Carly Wilson scored the first goal of the fourth quarter off a free position at 9:18, giving the Gators their second lead of the day at 6-5.
  *   Autumn Blair (8:02) and Kaitlyn Davies (6:11) would extend the Gators lead to 7-5, after both burying feeds Gabbi Koury.
  *   Colorado would get one back from Jaimey Hill at 2:27 before Clark Hamilton put the Gators up 9-6 after scoring on a empty goal as Colorado tried to get the ball back.
  *   Lily Assini would cut the lead to two at 00:25, but the Gators would hold one to win 9-7.

Key Notes

  *   The Gators have extended their winning streak to six games, during which they haven’t given up more than ten goals.
  *   This is the least number  of goals the Gators have scored this season and the seven goals given up is tied for the least amount given up, as the Gators gave up seven goals in their win over Kennesaw State.
  *   The nine goals are also the least number of goals scored by the Gators in a win since since May 6, 2023, when the Gators beat James Madison 9-8 in the American Conference Tournament Championship. The 16 total goals in the game is the Least number of total goals in a game since 2021, when the Gators lost at No.1 UNC on Feb 19 11-5.
  *   Florida’s nine goals ties Michigan and Northwestern for the most number of goals scored against Colorado this season
  *   Carly Wilson’s free position goal in the fourth quarter is her second goal of the season, both coming off free positions and is her first goal off against a ranked team in her career.
  *   Susan Radebaugh’s 12 saves are a career high, surpassing her previous career high of 11 saves she set in Gators 13-10 win over Dartmouth.
