Florida is one of 14 schools with at least three recipients of the accolade.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Maggi Hall, Liz Harrison and Emily Heller all represented the Florida lacrosse team well, as they were awarded Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American honors, announced Thursday afternoon. Harrison and Heller were named to the Second Team, and Hall claimed Honorable Mention. The three players have been key reasons to the Gators success this season and their current 10 game winning streak.
Harrison was named to the second team as a draw specialist, and she has certainly backed it up with her play. The senior currently leads the country in total draw controls with 149, averaging 12.42 per game, which is good for second in the country. The Lake Worth, Fla. native has had double digit draw controls in nine games this season, and at least 15 in four games. Harrison recorded a record for most draw controls in a Florida game with 19 this season, to along with shattering the single season record of 135 and all-time program record of 353. She currently sits at 359 career draw controls, and is a main reason for the Gators being second in the country in draw controls per game as a team with 18.64.
Heller earned second team honors as a midfielder for her true two-way ability. The Graduate Student is third on the team in goals with 23, to go along with four assists. She is second on the team in draw controls with 20, and ranks first on Florida in ground balls (14) and caused turnovers (7). The West Babylon, N.Y. native has eight multi goal games, and two hat-tricks on the year. Heller became the 18th player in program history to reach 100 career goals this season, and is just three draw controls away from becoming the third player in Florida history with at least 100 goals, 100 ground balls and 200 draw controls. The midfielder sealed the Gators first win of the season, scoring an overtime goal at fifth ranked Maryland on Feb. 24.
Hall was awarded honorable mention honors as an attacker for her stellar play this season. The senior leads the Gators in points (58), and assists (33), while being second on the team in goals with 25. Hall has had five games this season with at least seven points, and six games with at least five, including 14 total points over her last two games. The Bel Air, Md. product set the Florida record for most assists in a game with eight this season on March 6 against UC Davis. She also became the 12th player in program history to hit the 200-career point milestone, while moving into first all-time in career assists amongst the program. Hall recorded her 100th career assist on March 23 against Old Dominion. She has seven multi goal games this season, and three hat-tricks, while recording a point in 31 consecutive games going back to last season.
The Gators are on of 14 teams to have at least three players represented on this list. No. 11 Florida will look to keep the momentum going forward, as they head to Nashville for a conference clash against Vanderbilt on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
