UF LAX | Four Gators Earn AAC Weekly Honors

Heller, Browndorf garner major awards; LoPinto, Reznick tabbed to Honor Roll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After helping lead Florida to a 2-0 week, four Gators earned American Athletic Conference honors, as the league announced Monday.

Emily Heller was named AAC Midfielder of the Week, while Becky Browndorf earned AAC Defender of the Week honors.

Emma LoPinto and Sarah Reznick were each tabbed to the Honor Roll for their performances over the week.

Heller’s third weekly award this season came after she led the team offensively against Mercer and Cincinnati. The senior averaged 3.00 goals, 3.50 groundballs and 2.50 caused turnovers in the two games last week.

Against Mercer, Heller posted a career-high five caused turnovers and five groundballs, to go along with a 2-of-3 shooting day.

In the conference matchup against Cincinnati, Heller recorded a team-high four goals – tying her career-best mark. She went 4-of-5 with three draw controls and two groundballs.

Browndorf earned her second weekly honor this season after leading a defensive unit that only allowed 5.5 goals per game.

Against Mercer, the senior defender tallied two caused turnovers and two groundballs to secure the 15-6 victory.

The Dresher, Pa. native held Cincinnati’s leading scorer to just one goal on 1-of-5 shooting in the win against the Bearcats.

Emma LoPinto nabbed her fifth conference honor in the 2023 campaign after averaging 4.50 points, 2.50 assists and 2.00 goals per game this past week.

In the victory over Mercer, the sophomore attacker posted two goals and an assist.

Against the Bearcats, the Manhasset, N.Y. native recorded six points on two goals and four assists to lead the Gators to victory. Her four assists were a season-best. She went a perfect 2-of-2 on the day, along with two groundballs and two caused turnovers – tying her career-high.

Redshirt junior Sarah Reznick garnered her third AAC honor this season after registering a 5.57 goals against average and a .619 save percentage to lead Florida to a 2-0 week.

Against Mercer, Reznick allowed only four goals, while coming up with eight saves for a .667 clip during her 41:14 in the cage. She also picked up a groundball in the 15-6 victory.

The Long Beach, N.Y. native saw 45 minutes of action against Cincinnati, coming up with five saves. Reznick allowed only four goals on the day for a .556 save percentage and also tallied a groundball in the win.

The Gators are back in action on Saturday against No. 23 Penn. Opening draw is slated for 12 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
