GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators first baseman/left-handed pitcher Jac Caglianone<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jac-caglianone/16365> was named the Perfect Game Co-National Player of the Week on Tuesday, as announced by the outlet on social media.

The honor marks Florida’s first weekly national recognition for any player of the 2024 season. Caglianone earned national honors alongside Georgia Tech’s Drew Burress.

Caglianone’s signature performance of the week came on Sunday, when he threw six shutout innings to earn the series-clinching victory over Miami while striking out a career-high 11 batters. He walked two and allowed just three hits, matching that output with three hits of his own at the plate en route to a 3-for-5 day with a solo home run.

Starting all five games for the Gators, Caglianone slashed a lethal .417/.440/.792 by collecting 10 hits in 24 at bats. The Tampa, Fla. native totaled three home runs, five RBI and five runs scored while leading the Gators to wins over Bethune-Cookman and Miami (two). Caglianone also totaled 19 bases and struck out twice all week while homering in the game one and three victories over the Canes.

Caglianone and the Gators are set to open a nine-game homestand on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against UCF before welcoming Saint Mary’s to town for a three-game set.
