RIDING HIGH
The Gators are currently riding a four-game winning streak after going 4-0 last week against No. 9 Florida State (W, 5-4) and sweeping Missouri (11-2, 5-0, 3-2). In those four games, Florida has outscored its opponents by a 24-to-8 margin. The keys to the recent run have been an improved eye at the plate (27 walks to 20 strikeouts) and an elevated performance from the pitching staff: 1.97 ERA, .198 batting average against and 43-to-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio. UF hurlers have allowed just seven earned runs in the last four contests.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS

Stetson’s pitching staff has been strong with a 3.71 ERA and 299 strikeouts to 125 walks across 322.1 frames. Defensively, the team fields at a .975 clip with 34 errors on the season.

MURDERER’S ROW
Florida’s retooled lineup features five qualified hitters with an OPS above .950 and batting average over .310 in catcher/designated hitter Brody Donay<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/brody-donay/17324> (1.138, .321), infielder Colby Shelton<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/colby-shelton/17335> (1.045, .369), infielder Bobby Boser<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/bobby-boser/17349> (1.012, .317), infielder Brendan Lawson<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/brendan-lawson/17350> (.984, .312), and Heyman (.964, .315). Those five players have accounted for 73.2% of the Gators’ home runs this season (41 of 56) and 60.5% of run production (155 of 256 RBI).
CAUGHT ON BARBS
Although rookie right-hander Jackson Barberi<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jackson-barberi/17354> has not earned a decision in any of his first-four career starts, the Gators are 4-0 when he starts on the mound (Feb. 26 vs. UNF, March 18 vs. JU, April 1 vs. UNF, April 8 vs. FSU). Barberi has pitched to a 2.70 ERA and 13-to-six strikeout-to-walk ratio in 10 innings as a starter, but has averaged just 48.3 pitches per outing. On the season as a whole, Barberi has fanned 12.5 batters per nine.
BELTIN’ SHELTON

Starting every game at shortstop so far this year, Shelton paces Florida in hitting with a .369/.441/.604 slash line. The junior has refined his approach this season, cutting his strikeout rate down to 10.0% after fanning at a 26.4% clip one year ago. Shelton has drawn more combined walks (15) and hit-by-pitches (five) than strikeouts (17).
BOBBY BARRELS
Coming into Tuesday, Boser has reached base in 18-consecutive games featuring hits in 15 of those contests. The UF third baseman has batted .343/.432/.543 in that span while swiping six bags in seven tries. Boser’s 12 multi-RBI games are three more than any other Gator while his 14 multi-hit performances rank second on the team behind Shelton. He is also tied alongside Lawson for the team high in RBI (39). With multiple hits in three of UF’s last four SEC tilts, Boser has raised his conference batting line to .322/.394/.441.
CLEMENTIME
By sealing Florida’s victories over No. 9 FSU on Tuesday as well as the series-clinching win vs. Missouri on Saturday, closer Jake Clemente<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jake-clemente/17322> earned his first-two career saves. He retired all six Seminoles he faced, striking out four, before tossing 1 1/3 scoreless, no-hit frames to finish off the Tigers. In his last five relief appearances, Clemente is 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA, 0.87 batting average against and 12-to-five strikeout-to-walk ratio. Four of his last five outings have been scoreless.
RESPECT THE LAW, SON
In the sweep of Missouri, Lawson produced the game-winning RBI in both games one and three featuring a walk-off single in the finale. As a result, the Canadian rookie is now hitting .312/.440/.544 backed by eight homers and a team-high 39 RBI.

RELENTLESS REPTILES

Last season, the Gators delivered 21 wins in comeback fashion, featuring 12 of the team’s 13 SEC wins. Florida trailed in six of its 2024 postseason victories and claimed five-straight NCAA Tournament elimination games to keep its season alive. Going back two seasons, 22 of the 2023 Gators’ program-record 54 victories came via comebacks.
