BIRMINGHAM –The UAB women’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches and remained undefeated in Conference USA play after its 1-1 draw against UTSA at PNC Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers (7-2-4, 4-0-2 C-USA) fell behind early when UTSA’s Kiran Singh put the Roadrunners (6-4-4, 1-2-3 C-USA) on the board in the third minute.
UAB got the equalizer in the 74th minute when Hannah Clark blasted a shot past UTSA keeper Mia Krusinski.
Carlyn Presley led the Blazers with two shots. UAB had nine for the match.
Keeper Eve Beyer made a pair of saves.
“Although I am a little disappointed with how we played today, I think we played good for about 20 minutes, but in that 20 span we played well,” said head coach Erica Demers. “We’re going to refocus and get ready for training on Tuesday.”
“It was awesome for Hannah to get her first goal, it was an absolute bomb,” added Demers.
The next home match is against Charlotte on Oct. 13 at 7:04 p.m. The 49ers (3-7-3, 2-3-1 C-USA) are coming off a 1-1 draw against Middle Tennessee on Oct. 6. The match will be UAB’s breast cancer awareness match.
