UAB Women’s Soccer Hosts UTEP on Senior Night


BIRMINGHAM
 – The UAB women’s soccer team will honor the Class of 2021 on Thursday night when its takes on UTEP at BBVA Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and a ceremony to honor seniors Brenda BishopLexxe LipseyBetsy OrnelasLucy Thrasher and Audria Wood will take place prior to the match.

UAB LATELY
UAB (5-8-3, 3-3-1 C-USA) is coming off a 1-1 tie at UTSA on Oct. 22. With the point, the Blazers clinched a berth in the 2021 Conference USA Championship. UAB has been unbeaten since a 2-1 setback at Rice on Oct. 8. The Blazers are tied for fourth place in the West Division standings with North Texas. Each team has 10 points.

UTEP LATELY
The Miners (4-11-0, 1-6-0 C-USA) have lost four of its last five including a 2-0 decision against Southern Miss on Oct. 22. UTEP is in last place in the West Division standings.

THE SERIES VS. UTEP
The teams have met 16 times dating back to 2000. The Blazers and Miners met once in nonconference play and once in the C-USA Championship. Each team has six wins and four ties.

COMMON OPPONENTS      
The teams have eight common opponents this season – LA Tech, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, UTSA and WKU.

UP NEXT
The Blazers await the pairings for the 2021 Conference USA Championship. This will be released by the conference office at the conclusion of Thursday’s matches.
