What are your team and personal expectations of the upcoming season?
I know as a team we feel like we have a lot to prove. Not finishing last season like we hoped, I think we have all used that as fuel for this upcoming season. We know what we can accomplish, but now it’s about putting it all together and proving ourselves. Personally, since it’s my last year, I just want to take it all in. With all of the unknown right now, I try to go out every day and just be thankful that I get the opportunity to be with my team and play soccer. I obviously want to win this year and go out on top, but just trying to take it day by day right now.
What were some of the challenges you face in the offseason?
Being away from the team was a huge challenge. Not being in the competitive environment that we have created was tough, but as time went on I just tried to find new ways to challenge myself. Being apart from each other and away from the game for so long made us that much more excited to get back, though.
What was the feeling like when you reunited with your teammates on campus?
This team has gotten so close, so reuniting was so much fun. I know that we all missed each other a ton being apart for so long, and it feels so good to finally be back and training again. We communicated a ton over the summer and constantly were in touch, but there’s nothing like all being on campus and getting to see each other every day.
What is your impression of the incoming class?
They have been really impressive. I know I can’t imagine coming into my freshman year in these circumstances, and they have really made the most of it. They’ve had positive attitudes, and they’ve come every day ready to train and grow. I’m super excited to see them continue to improve and help us out.
Did you develop any new hobbies while we in quarantine?
I baked a lot! I’ve always loved to bake, but with that much time on my hands it really turned into a hobby.
As a senior, what are you going to miss the most about being a student-athlete?
I’m going to miss it all. The team, the coaches, the competitiveness, and just the sport in general. Soccer is all I have known my whole life, so I think when it’s all said and done it’s going to be super hard for me to actually believe it’s over.
What are your plans after graduation?
I’m majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in marketing. I have always wanted to be in the sports media world, so I’m super excited to take that next step and explore options once I graduate in December.
