BIRMINGHAM – UAB head women’s basketball coach Randy Norton has announced Sara and Tracey Bershers have transferred into the program.
Sara is a 6-0 wing who played three years at UTRGV. She is coming off a sophomore season where she averaged 13.5 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 30 points against Lamar, making 9-of-18 field goals and 5-of-7 3-point attempts. She had three double-doubles this past season, including a 29 point/13 rebound effort against McNeese State.
In 2021, Sara was named All-WAC Honorable Mention after finishing the season averaging 13.0 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game.
“Sara is a prolific scorer that can score at all three levels,” said Norton. “She fills up a stat sheet as she is a multi-dimensional player. She is gritty, tough and a veteran that will make an immediate impact on our program.”
Tracey played one year at Oklahoma State after finishing a stellar career at Northside High School (Fort Smith, Ark.). She led the Grizzlies to the 2021 and 2019 Arkansas State championship. In the 2021 title game, Tracey recorded a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds and was named MVP.
“Tracey is a 6-2 forward that can play multiple positions,” said Norton. “She is a knock down 3-point shooter and has the ability to dominate on the block as well. She will thrive in our system.”
The duo joins Denim DeShields, Ashton Elley, Molly Moffitt, Amiya Payne and Desiree Ware as the newest members of the program.
