BIRMINGHAM – UAB will close out the nonconference part of the schedule against Thomas on Saturday. The Blazers (8-4) and Night Hawks (5-8) will tipoff at 1 p.m. at Bartow Arena.

UAB is coming off a pair of wins at the St. Pete Shootout on Dec. 21-22. After defeating in-state rival Alabama State 71-63, the Blazers took down previously undefeated Duquesne 77-68. Tyreek Scott-Grayson averaged 20.5 ppg in the two games including a career-high 25 point performance against the Hornets. Scott-Grayson scored the Blazers’ first nine points and made his first seven shot from the floor against ASU. Jalen Benjamin averaged 15.0 ppg and scored a career-high 23 against the Dukes – including making 10-of-11 shots from the foul line.

The Night Hawks (5-8) are coming off a 92-85 loss against Florida Tech. UAB is Thomas’ only DI opponent this season. Joshua Scott leads the Night Hawks in scoring (16.5 ppg). Quante Smith is TU’s leading rebounder (5.1 rpg).
