Tulsa, North Texas Bound for Inaugural WBIT

IRVING, Texas – Two women’s basketball teams from the American Athletic Conference have been selected to the in the field of the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). Tulsa earned the automatic bid from The American and will be a No. 3 seed, while North Texas was selected as an at-large bid. Game times will be finalized Monday.

This WBIT will be played March 21 (first-round), March 24 (second-round) and March 28 (quarterfinals), with the highest-seeded teams hosting games at campus sites. WBIT semifinal and final games will be conducted at Butler University’s historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on April 1 and 3. All games of the WBIT will be broadcast on the ESPN platforms.

Tulsa (23-9), one of the 2024 American Athletic Conference regular season champions, will open the WBIT against Arkansas on March 21 in Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane were led by Temira Poindexter, the 2024 American Player of the Year, and Delanie Crawford, the 2024 American Most Improved Player.

North Texas (23-8), who also earned a share of the 2024 American Athletic Conference regular season title, will play its first game against No. 3 TCU on March 21 in Fort Worth, Texas. Led by first year head coach Jason Burton, the Mean Green won a program record 23 games this season.
