Tulsa Leads After Day One at 2025 American Women’s Golf Championship

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Tulsa was the top team in round one of the 2025 American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Monday at Southern Hills Plantation Club. The Golden Hurricane fired a team score of 9-under 279 to take a seven-stroke lead following the opening 18 holes. East Carolina is seven strokes back, shooting 2-under 286 in the first round.
 
The average score on the first day of play at Southern Hills Plantation Club was 75.04 over the 55 completed rounds. A total of 10 of the 55 players in action in round one finished at par or better, including nine under par showings. Charlotte’s Ilani Short shot a hole-in-one on the 13th hole, the fifth of her career.
 
Tulsa saw all four scorers finish par or better for a team score of 9-under 279.  Lovisa Gunnar and Romaine Masserey hold the individual lead with a 4-under 68.  Jennifer Roller shot 1-under 71, while Sydney Seigel shot an even par for the opening round.
 
East Carolina was led in the first round by Nicole Nash who shot 3-under 69 to finish third individually in the first round.  Zoe Allaux shot a 1-under 71 to finish tied for fifth place overall. 

 
Charlotte enters round two in third place with a team score of 1-over 289. Jette Schulze led the 49ers with a score of 3-under 69 in the first round, while Pinky Chaisilprungruang shot par for the course in the first round.
 
Tied for fourth place with a score of 7-over 295 are Florida Atlantic and Memphis. The Owls are led by Nancy Cox with a score of 1-under 71. Charlotte Perkins finished with the second-best score for the Owls at par. Tilly Garfoot was the leader for Memphis with a team-low score of 1-under 71. Emily Wilson finished at 1-over 73.
 
Teams will resume the second round of the 2025 American Women’s Golf Championship on Tuesday with tee times expected to begin at 8 a.m. (ET).
