This is the first All-SSC selection for NSU since 2015-16
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Following last night’s quarterfinal exit in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament at Saint Leo, the 2019-20 season for the Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team has come to an end. On a positive note, senior forward Jordan Tully concluded her career as a Shark in rewarding fashion after being named to the All-SSC First Team, as announced on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.
This award marks the first career All-SSC nod for Tully and the first for NSU since the Sharks’ Kayla Wright and Monaye Merritt both took home First Team honors back in 2015-16.
In an injury-filled season full of adversity for the Sharks as a whole, Tully shined in the paint for NSU as she led the conference in scoring from start to finish, ending the season averaging an SSC-best 18.1 points per game. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native started all 28 games played for the Sharks, scoring double-figures in 26 of those, while converting nearly 55 percent of her shots – fourth-best in the conference.
Tully scored 20-plus points in 12 games this season, including 14 games with at least five rebounds. In her two years with NSU, the Canadian finished with 766 points and 217 rebounds, while shooting 56.6 percent (183-334 FG) from the field.
In addition to her offensive prowess, Tully also racked up 73 blocked shots the past two seasons, including a conference-high 44 (1.6/game) in 2019-20. NSU led the conference in blocked shots this season with 100, and Tully nearly accounted for half of that total. As a result, she was awarded the SSC Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 23, also picking up Player of the Week laurels on Jan 20.
“Congratulations goes out to Jordan for being named First Team All-SSC,” said head coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry. “She had a very productive senior season and other SSC coaches took notice. The league had no answer for her dominance on the block night in and night out. This is a nice recognition for Jordan as she concludes her career.”
