MADISON, Wis. – Tulane’s Green Wave freshman Caroline Jeptanui became the 15th American Athletic Conference runner to earn All-American status as he finished in 12th place at the NCAA Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning.
Three weeks after winning The American individual championship, Jeptanui competed in the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Madison, Wisconsin, finishing in 12th place with a time of 19:47.6. Teammate Blezzin Kimutai finished in 55th place with a time of 20:16.0.
On the men’s side, Tulane and Tulsa both competed as a team with the Green Wave finishing in 28th place with 691 points and the Golden Hurricane finishing in 31st place with 754 points.
Bernard Cheruiyot led the Green Wave with an 85th place finish at 29:49.1. Jack Jennings finishing in 113th place (29:59.2) followed by Illia Kunin (161 place; 30:21.0), Wondu Summa (220th place; 31:08.8), Jordan Bendura (246th place; 31:49.6), Ryan Adkins (248th place; 31:52.7) and Tucker Poshard (250th place; 32.31.2).
Shay McEvoy was the top finisher for the Golden Hurricane at 130th place with a time of 30:06.1. Chris McLeod was the next finisher at 156th place (30:18.1), followed by Jaden Forester (167th place; 30:24.9), Ben Brown (219th place; 31:08.3), Oisin Spillane (237th place; 31:32.0), Luke Lambert (243rd place; 31:46.8) and Luke Birdseye (249th place; 32:12.6).
