Nova Southeastern had three recipients, as Luca Alessandrini (Men’s Swimming), Celina Marquez (Women’s Swimming) and Madeline Hardy (Women’s Basketball) were all recognized for their efforts.
Alessandrini earns his second award during the 2021-22 season, for his performance during a tri-meet against Tampa and Indian River. The freshman was victorious in the 1000 free (9:11.11) and the 500-free (4:35.73), his 1000-freestyle beat the NCAA qualifying time by nine seconds.
Marquez, also earning her second SSC Swimmer of the Week award of the 2021-22 campaign, won three individual events in the tri-meet against Tampa and Indian River. Marquez helped lead the Sharks to a relay win in the 200-medley, while adding wins in the 50-backstroke (26.08), 100-backstroke (55.70), and finished the event with a 50-fly stroke win (25.72).
This is the second time during the 2021-22 season that Alessandrini and Marquez both earned Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the week honors (11/15).
Hardy earns her first career SSC Player of the Week honor following an incredible week on the court. Hardy averaged 19 points-per-game, 9.5 rebounds per-game, adding four blocks, to lead the Sharks to a 2-0 week in Sunshine State Conference play. Hardy recorded her first double-double of her Sharks career against Lynn, scoring 17 points and adding 10 rebounds. The junior followed that performance with a 21-point game against Rollins.
