Gators QB joins nine other quarterbacks, including two others from the SEC
BALDWIN, Md. – Kyle Trask was named a Top 10 candidate for the Golden Arm Award, The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation and presenting partner, A. O. Smith, announced on Friday.
The Golden Arm Award is presented annually to the top upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class. The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the distinguished Golden Arm Award Selection Committee, a group of prominent football journalists, former coaches and players, general managers, commentators, announcers, and other former award recipients.
Trask has thrown for 2,810 yards and 34 touchdowns so far this season, while ranking first in the FBS in touchdown passes and fourth in passing yards.
Trask’s third touchdown pass on Saturday against Kentucky – a 7-yarder to Kyle Pitts in the third quarter – tied him with San Diego State’s Dennis Shaw (1969) and Houston’s David Klingler (1990) for the third-most passing touchdowns through the first eight games of a season in FBS history.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Education Foundation’s charitable mission is to promote the game of football on all levels by providing financial aid to deserving young scholar athletes. The award acknowledges performance on the field, but it goes beyond completion percentage and touchdown strikes. The award values character, citizenship, integrity and those who honor the game.
