This SEASON Is A Success

This Season Is A Success

So, our beloved Cardiac Cats have had a change of fortune since week 8. Starting out 1-6, and looking like the season was over. Made some coaching and roster changes. Then became one of the hottest teams in football. Granted some of that roster change was getting healthier as well.

The Past 8 weeks the Lions have had an impressive 6-2 record. Offensively, this team is way ahead of schedule for a rebuild. And I couldn’t be happier for it.

For the first time in Lions history. They have amassed 4k yards passing and 2k rushing in the same season. And in 16 games! Jared Goff has done everything I personally wanted him to do this season. Limited turnovers, and helping to lead this team to meaningful games in December and January.

Defensively, while improved, it is still the weak point of the roster. Yet, it is showing signs it can dominate some teams. Leading the league in QB pressures (hasn’t happened since 2014). Other than 3 games (Seattle, New England, and Carolina) has been limiting damage done by running backs. They still struggle with mobile QBs. But I believe that is more scheme, and lack of talent in the defense as a whole.

Coaching wise. We have watched the maturation of Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson this season unfold before our eyes.

For this editorialist, regardless of the outcome with the Lions first Primetime game of the season. This season was a success, with it being the 2nd year of a rebuild, and the team isn’t quite built as a contender yet. Go Lions, and give us a game to be proud of on Sunday.

Go Lions!
