Local Jacksonville cancer survivor to perform original rap song at dinner featuring current and former NFL players and celebrities
The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation will host its 24th annual Celebrity Golf Classic, in partnership with THE PLAYERS on May 19th and 20th. This premier event will take place at the world-renowned TPC Sawgrass in the company of Tom Coughlin and his celebrity friends from the sports world and beyond, as they gather to raise money for local Jacksonville families tackling childhood cancer.
The foundation is thrilled to announce a special addition to this year’s dinner. Eighteen-year-old cancer survivor Blake Herndon, will perform an original rap song inspired by his own cancer journey. Blake was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on his seventh birthday. Despite several relapses, Blake has always maintained a positive attitude and been an inspiration to all he meets.
“A Methodist bishop once quipped that no one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it,” said Jay Fund founder and Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tom Coughlin. “The same can be said of tackling childhood cancer. It takes a team, and we are so grateful to have so many incredible members of our team come out year after year to BE THERE for our Jacksonville families.”
WHEN: The festivities begin on Sunday, May 19th with an exclusive invitation only dinner featuring athletes and celebrities. Interview and photo availability will commence at 6 p.m. which marks the beginning of the evening’s blue carpet arrivals. Availability will end promptly at 7 p.m. Dinner is closed to the press. On Monday, May 20th, the day begins with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Interview and photo availability will take place 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. only. Golf Course is not open to the press or public.

WHY: Some of the worst news a parent can hear is, “Your child has cancer.” The funds raised during this two-day event will help the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation help local families keep a roof over their heads, food on their table, and the lights on when they are putting all their resources and energies toward helping their child get better. Our mission is to BE THERE for families so they can be there for their sick child. In the past 24 years, the foundation has raised over $8 million at the Celebrity Golf Classic.
