Devoux Punches Ticket to Eugene; Franks Advances to 400m Quarterfinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Devoux Deysel punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships and George Franks advanced to the 400m quarterfinals Wednesday as the University of Miami track and field team opened up competition at the NCAA East First Round at Hodges Stadium.

After enduring nearly a five-hour rain delay, Deysel advanced to the NCAA Championships in the javelin after placing fifth with a throw of 72.02m. Deysel will be making his second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, after placing third a year ago.

Franks capped off the evening as he advanced on time to the 400m quarterfinals. The junior qualified on time as he clocked a 46.46. The quarterfinals will take place Friday at 6:50 p.m.

The Hurricanes open competition on the women’s side Thursday with the women’s javelin at 12:30 p.m. with the 100m hurdles beginning at 2:30 p.m. 

Each day of competition at the NCAA East First Round will be streamed on ESPN+ while live results can be found on www.flashresults.com.
