SWIM – Sharks Surge to Record-Breaking Finish on Senior Day

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks left their mark on Senior Day, as the women’s group of Kristina OrbanZsofia KurdiMaxine Egner and Maya Esparza set a new record in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:17.92. That time is an NCAA Division II, Sunshine State Conference, and NSU program record. It was a memorable highlight for the Sharks, as the women bested Barry 222-29 and Florida Southern 190-67 in the final home meet of the season. The men also defeated Barry 197.5-60.5 and fell to Florida Southern 145-117. The Sharks honored 20 seniors in a pre-meet ceremony.

How it Happened

 (Women)

  • Emilia Ronningdal won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.21. She also won the 200 yard individual medley at 2:02.36.
  • Zsofia Kurdi (49.71) and Maya Esparza (50.62) finished first and second in the 100 yard freestyle, while teammate Maxine Egner (51.12) also placed top-five in the event.
  • Kristina Orban (54.21) finished second in the 100 yard butterfly.
  • Orban, Kurdi, Egner and Esparza’s group won the 400 yard freestyle relat at 3:17.92, a new NCAA DII, SSC and NSU program record. 
How it Happened

 (Men)

  • Eason Cormack won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:17.35.
  • Paul Huvet-Pansard won the 100 yard backstroke at 49.68.
  • Michael Kent won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 55.77. Kent also won the 200 yard individual medley at 1:51.41.
  • Roland Nagy (1:47.94), Huvet-Pansard (1:48.34) and Gustav Henriksen (1:48.77) finished first, second and third, respectively, in the 200 yard backstroke.
