Melanie Green once again paced the Bulls, shooting par or better in all three rounds.
TAMPA, FLA., March 10, 2024 – The University of South Florida women’s golf team finished in 13th place among a loaded field at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, the third event of the Spring schedule. South Florida, ranked No. 39 nationally, has finished in the top four in six of seven events in the 2023-24 season.
In the 54-hole event that was completed Sunday, the Bulls took on a field in which all 17 teams were ranked in the top 85 in the country. USF posted a final score of 892 (+28). Only three of the 17 teams finished under par for the tournament. Due to the weather on Saturday, the schedule was altered, the field completed round one on Friday and began round two later that day. The second round was then completed on Sunday along with the entire third and final round.
No. 36-ranked Melanie Green, who has been named the AAC Women’s Golfer of the Week twice in the Spring, led the Bulls with a score of 215 (-1) to finish tied for 14th. She has finished in the top 10 of six of seven tournaments during the 2023-24 season and in the top four in five events.
In the Valspar Augusta Invitational, Green shot par or better in in all three rounds. She opened with an even-par 72, came back with a 71 (-1) and closed with a 72 (E) to move up three spots on the leaderboard. Green tied for the lead in scoring on the par five’s at -8.
Graduate student transfer Alyssa Montgomery, who recorded her first top 10 finish at USF at the Dale McNamara Invitational, carded rounds of 74 (+2), 73 (+1) and 76 (+4). She finished tied for 47th place.
Senior Alizee Vidal opened with a 75 (+2), followed by a 73 (+1) and closed with a 77 (+5) to finish tied for 58th overall. Vidal was third in the field with 42 pars.
Freshman Emma Falcher improved each round. Falcher opened with an 80 (+8), improved with a 76 (+4) in the second round and closed with a scoring round 75 (+3) to finish 79th.
Junior Leonor Medeiros opened with a scoring round of 78 (+6), came back with a 78 (+6) in the second round and closed with a 77 (+5) to finish in a tie for 81st.

About USF Women’s Golf
The 2023-24 campaign will be the Bulls’ sixth full season under head coach Erika Brennan. South Florida is among the fastest-rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured five tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Senior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first three seasons, qualified for the 2022 NCAA Regional as an individual and was named a 2023 All-American Honorable Mention. Green and the Bulls reached the NCAA Regional as a team in 2023, marking the program’s first postseason appearance in 11 years.
