Tampa, Fla. (April 18, 2023) – The University of South Florida women’s tennis team enters this week’s American Athletic Conference Tournament as the third seed and has earned a bye to the quarterfinal round. The Bulls will face the winner of the match between six-seed Memphis and 11-seed Cincinnati on Thursday at 12:00 noon ET at the USTA National Campus in Orlando

“Looking forward to competing with this team at the conference tournament,” said coach Cristina Moros. “Everything we have done, every experience, practice, workout and match has prepared us for this week.  We know all too well that at this point in the season, anyone can beat anyone, so we need to bring our best and just enjoy it.”

The #60 Bulls advanced to the semi-finals last year with a comeback win over Temple in the first round and an upset of number one seed UCF in the second round. USF won the title in 2014 as a three-seed over top-seeded Houston, 4-2, and then again in 2017 as a seven-seed over the No. 1-seed Tulsa, 4-2.

South Florida is 14-6 all-time in the event.

The Bulls enter the postseason 13-8 and winners of nine of their last 12 matches. USF has been led in singles by Sierra Berry who 14-3 and Grace Schumacher at 12-5.  Laura Pellicer has contributed 11 singles wins in her senior season.
