LOUISVILLE, KY. – After making an immediate impact in her first season as a Shark, Nova Southeastern Softball student athlete Gracelyn Wallace was named to the 2025 NFCA DII Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist, announced on Thursday afternoon. Wallace is one of five SSC athletes to be named on the watchlist.
The list is broken down into the eight NCAA Regions (Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West) with up to 15 student-athletes represented in each region. The list is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA Division II All-American Committee, with one head coach representing each of the eight NCAA regions. To be eligible, a student-athlete’s head coach must be a member.
Wallace has been on an absolute tear to start the season, leading the team in ERA (1.71), wins (13), and strikeouts (110). The sophomore also ranks second in the league in total strikeouts. Wallace had two outings where she threw 10 or more strikeouts, including a season high 12 strikeouts against Eckerd on February 21st. Not to mention, the Sorrento native also earned an SSC Player of the Week honor for the week of March 3 – March 9 after posting a 0.00 ERA in four appearances.
Voted on by the NFCA’s Division II All-American Committee, the 2025 NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year winners will be announced on May 30, following the conclusion of the NCAA Division II National Championships. All student-athletes are eligible for the end-of-the-season award and do not have to be on this list to be considered.
