Softball – NSU Softball Returns to the NCAA Tournament

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA.- The Nova Southeastern Softball team returns to the NCAA Tournament. The Sharks look to carry their momentum into the postseason after being selected in Monday morning’s NCAA selection show. Making this the second straight year that NSU has been represented at the NCAA Tournament.

The Sharks who are led by head coach Julie LeMaire, earned the No. 3 seed in the South Region, which is made up of members from the SSC, SIAC, and Gulf South Conference.

As the No. 3 seed, the Sharks will travel to Saint Leo, Fl., where they’ll open against No. 6 seed West Alabama this Thursday at 3 p.m. EST.

In the South 2 Region bracket, NSU will also be grouped with fellow SSC member and host Saint Leo, along with No. 7 seed AUM.

The South 1 Region bracket is comprised of No. 1 seed and host Tampa, No. 8 seed Tuskegee, No. 4 seed Alabama Huntsville, and No. 5 seed Mississippi College. The winners of each double-elimination bracket will meet in a best-of-three Super Regional beginning Thursday, May 18.

The Division II Softball Championship will be held at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, TN. from May 25-31.

The Sharks got off to a hot start, winning six out of their first eight games of the season. NSU carried that momentum throughout the year, defeating top-ranked opponents along the way, including Tampa (1), UT Tyler (3), Alabama Huntsville (5), and Saint Leo (11). The Sharks finished the season with a 38-13 overall record and a 22-8 record in conference play, not to mention NSU is currently riding a 10-game winning streak heading into tournament play.
