Softball – #15 Sharks split SSC Doubleheader against #20 Lions

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 15th-ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team split Saturday’s doubleheader against the 20th-ranked Saint Leo Lions at Mary Cannon Cabot Stadium. Saint Leo claimed the 2-1 game one win, but the Sharks bounced back in game two with an impressive 11-4 victory, thanks to a seven-run seventh inning.

How it Happened

TOP 1st – With the bases loaded, Abbey Moore was walked, bringing home Duskin for the game’s first run. 

BOT 2nd – The Lions responded with a run of their own to tie the game at one a piece. 

BOT 3rd – Saint Leo continued to apply the pressure offensively, tacking on another run to take a 2-1 advantage. 

The Sharks couldn’t get it going offensively and dropped game one of today’s doubleheader 2-1 against Saint Leo.

How it Happened

TOP 1st – Nova Southeastern struck first, taking the early 1-0 lead. 

BOT 2nd – Saint Leo answered with an RBI single to tie the game at one. 

TOP 3rd – Brenna Lokeinsky homered to push the Sharks back ahead 2-1. 

BOT 3rd – A sacrifice fly by the Lions brought home their second run of the game. 

TOP 5th – RBIs by Tori Copeland and Lauren Margolis gave the Sharks a two-run advantage. 

BOT 5th – Saint Leo brought their deficit to within one run after an RBI single. 

BOT 6th – The Lions continued to tack on runs, tying the game at four a piece after an RBI single to left field. 

TOP 7th – The Sharks scored a flurry of runs in the seventh inning, putting seven runs on the board to ultimately secure the 11-4 victory over the Lions.

What's Next

The Sharks will head back to the NSU Softball Stadium to take on the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a three-game series on April 17th. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
