SOCCER: Miami Lands Five on CSC Academic All-District Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Five members of the University of Miami soccer team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced.

Julia Edwards, Emilie McCartney, Dieynaba “JJ” Ndaw, Tori Grambo, and Kyla Gallagher were the five Hurricanes who earned the prestigious recognition for their accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom, with each student-athlete producing a GPA of at least 3.50.

Edwards has been a critical part of the Miami soccer program since 2020, and the fifth-year senior appeared in 16 games this season for the Canes. Edwards recorded two assists throughout the 2024 campaign.

McCartney was an essential piece for the Canes as a defender, appearing in and starting all 17 matches for Miami, while playing the maximum possible 1,530 minutes over the course of the season. McCartney was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on October 22 after anchoring a Miami defense that held Pitt to zero shots on frame in a 0-0 draw against the Panthers.

Ndaw transferred to Miami ahead of the 2024 campaign after four seasons at Duke, and the Graduate Student made an immediate impact on the program. She appeared in 16 games, making 10 starts and recorded one goal and one assist during the campaign.

Gallagher also transferred to Miami prior to the start of the 2024 season after a four-year career at Providence, and the Graduate Student started all 17 games for the Canes. She recorded two goals and two assists throughout her final collegiate season.

Grambo started all 17 games for Miami and finished second on the team in minutes logged (1,490), and in assists (3) throughout the season.
