FLAG FOOTBALL RECOGNITION

Almost 30 girls flag football organizations from Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties have already signed up by filling out the form HERE, with over 600 total tickets being distributed. The celebration day will honor the rise in popularity of flag football among young women, tapping into a growing movement and helping to promote and support female athletes in a traditionally male-dominated sport. For the girls and organizations in attendance, there will be in-game presentations recognizing their contribution to the sport. Organizations can continue to sign up through the end of the day Thursday.

BOCA HELPING HANDS

Boca Helping Hands (BHH), in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Athletics and Cereal4All, for the fourth year in a row, will commemorate September’s Hunger Action Month by hosting a Tackle Hunger Cereal Drive during the FAU vs. FIU football game. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. at the FAU Stadium. Those who donate one or more cereal boxes will get a free ticket to the game. Unopened cereal boxes can be dropped at the stadium (Gate 1) on game day.

Nonprofit Cereal4All was started by twin brothers Jett and Luke Justin of Boca Raton, now 16 years old. After volunteering at Boca Helping Hands with their parents, Jett and Luke organized their first cereal drive for BHH at their school in 2016 when they were just eight years old. The boys have since expanded the program to 15 schools in Palm Beach County as well as schools in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, and Washington to benefit their local food banks.
