FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Madison Frederick‘s strong play helped lead the Sharks to victory. Nova Southeastern takes down Minnesota Crookston Friday afternoon 86-63 and improved to 5-0 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half- NSU and UMC started the game in a back-and-forth battle, with both teams coming out strong on the offensive side of the ball. Sarei McGill managed to scoop in a buzzer-beating layup to tie the game, heading into the second quarter. 12 out of the Sharks 20 first-quarter points were three-pointers, thanks to Frederick, India Shepherd, Kyannah Grant, and Mackenzie Steele. A’lexus Bryant started the second quarter with back-to-back layups, followed by a three-pointer from Hailey Conley. Frederick made a jumper that sparked a quick 7-0 run for the Sharks, giving them a 38-29 lead. Minnesota Crookston battled back and cut the Sharks lead to five heading into the half.
Second Half- The Sharks came out strong, Kyarrah Grant got it started for NSU’s defense, getting a block and converting it to two points on the other end. Grant came back on defense and got a steal, which led to a layup by Kyannah Grant. UMC wouldn’t go away, bringing the game to as close as three. Three-pointers by Kyarrah Grant and Kyannah Grant gave the Sharks their biggest lead of the game. The Sharks were able to maintain the lead throughout the rest of the quarter with their strong offensive attack. NSU started the fourth quarter with all the momentum. Steele and Kyarrah Grant converted back-to-back layups to increase the Shark lead to 15. At the midway point of the fourth quarter, Steele made another layup, putting NSU ahead 78-59. The Sharks closed out the game, earning a 86-63 victory.

The Sharks 43 bench points were the second most for the team this season.
This was the third game this season where NSU made 10 or more three-pointers.
