Well, our next foe on the Gridiron is none other than the Seattle Seahawks. Which last year was a slugfest game where neither defense was that great. The Seahawks beat the Lions 48-45 on October 2nd, 2022. I know because I was there to see every excruciating minute live.
Seattle Seahawks:
Have what could be another good RB duo in Kenneth Walker III (K9) and rookie Zac Charbonnet. Their Oline is a little ragtag after having both their Right and Left Tackles get injured against the Rams. They signed NFL Journeyman and possible HOF’er Jason Peters to replace one of them. Who is more than a year or two past his prime. The defense failed to get pressure last week vs. the Los Angeles Rams. The best part of their defense is their Secondary. But a great Secondary with a less than average front 7, makes for defensive issues.
Detroit Lions:
Coming off a gritty win vs. the Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday night. I hope the get back to work attitude stayed with this new version of the team. Goff is an excellent Game Manager QB that ranks anywhere from 7th in the league to 15th depending upon which media outlet you follow. We saw that our Lightning and Thunder combo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs is pretty formidable. They combined for 120 yards and a TD last week. The Defense is what really impressed me overall. Forcing the Chiefs to become one dimensional and making sure that Mahomes had to sweat every passing down from the pressure. (0-7 on 3rd down conversions in the 2nd half!)
The game should have a much better outcome for Lions fans then last years against the Seahawks. When Jason Peters was at Chicago last season, Hutchinson and company used him as their personal Turnstile creating havoc for 2nd year QB Justin Fields. I expect more of the same this game. 2 Healthy Scratches from last week we should see play, due to their ability to stuff run gaps, is Isaiah Bygss and Brodric Martin at Defensive Tackle. This defense feels they need to take revenge on the Seahawks from last year’s game. And with a much-improved Secondary, I think they will.
I dont expect the high scoring game we saw last year. As a matter of fact, I expect a much better game overall for the Lions. Forcing them (like the Chiefs) to be one dimensional. So that Geno Smith will make the mistakes like we saw last week versus the Rams.
If it goes well for our Beloved Lions:
SEA 17
DET 27
If it goes wrong:
SEA 17
DET 14
