During a Special School Board Meeting on Thursday, February 24, 2022, the Broward County School Board approved a contract with Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) new, permanent Superintendent, Dr. Vickie L. Cartwright. She will receive an annual salary of $350,000.
The School Board selected Dr. Cartwright to lead the state’s second largest school district on February 9, 2022, following a national search for candidates. “I would like to thank the Board members for their support and belief in me as the new leader of Broward County Public Schools,” Dr. Cartwright said. “I would also like to thank my husband, son and family for being so supportive, as well as my close friends, community members, employees and students. I am grateful to my mentors who have prepared me for this role and to our many partnerships. I am excited for this new journey, as we continue to build upon the great things in Broward and pave new pathways of excellence in our School District for the benefit of students and the community.”
Dr. Cartwright has served as the District’s Interim Superintendent since August 2, 2021.
